About this piece
Pocket tins like this one sat in waistcoat pockets across Europe between the wars. The Orient Star design is pure late art deco: a stepped sunburst crown, gold scrollwork in the corners and a deep oxblood ground that has held its colour well.
The lid still closes with a clean snap. Wear is honest and even, the kind that comes from being carried, not stored in a damp cellar. A good example for a tobacco or art deco collection, and it displays flat or standing.
